MIDWIFERY CARE

While assisting and supporting the mother's natural ability to give birth gently and calmly, the midwife helps to prevent complications. She may also apply emergency skills or assess the need for transfer of care in the event that further medical assistance becomes necessary, and is certified in Healthcare Provider CPR as well as Neonatal Resuscitation. We prefer to have more than one midwife and/or assistant attending whenever possible.

Experience includes the uses of gentle yet effective natural remedies, waterbirth, as well as certain diagnostic implements and equipment, and other modalities as needed, including specific emergency medicines, etc.

Women can choose a homebirth midwife certified by the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) to help them have a healthy pregnancy, with a positive birth and gentle start for their new babies.

THE MIDWIVES
MODEL OF CARE

The Midwives Model of Care is based on the fact that pregnancy and birth are normal life events.

The Midwives Model of Care includes: monitoring the physical, psychological and social well-being of the mother throughout the childbearing cycle;

providing the mother with individualized education, counseling, and prenatal care, continuous hands-on assistance during labor and delivery, and postpartum support; minimizing technological interventions; and

identifying and referring women who require obstetrical attention.

The application of this model has been proven to reduce the incidence of birth injury, trauma, and cesarean section.
